The Final Universe
The Final Universe

The universe is the sum of all things in the world. The universe is both familiar and alien to most of us. So, what is the ultimate destination of a universe of trillions of planets and stars?

There are at least twenty trillion stars in the universe, some large and some small, and when they reach the end of their lives, at least a third of them will become black holes.

Over time, as more stars die, the number of black holes increases. When two black holes accidentally meet in dark space, they combine to form a larger black hole that attracts more materials.

13.8 billion years ago, a big bang kicked off the expansion of the universe. In 13.8 billion years, the universe expanded by at least 46.5 billion light years, expanding faster than the speed of light. Then the rapidly receding planets will be torn apart by dark energy until all materials in the universe is torn apart into elementary particles.

The last explanation may be a little frightening. But an international research group says the expansion of the universe is slowing down. After about 30 billion years, the universe will stop expanding and then start shrinking.
