Baikal's Mystery
Baikal's Mystery

Crop circles have appeared not only on the wheat field, but also on the surface of some inaccessible frozen lakes. In the Lake Baikal, there appears a mysterious lake circle. The circle of the lake is several kilometers in diameter, forming a perfect circle.

Using satellites, experts have discovered the mysterious circle once again on the ice of Lake Baikal. In 2014, a similar cycle appeared on the surface of Lake Baikal. This mystery, by contrast, is characterized by the asymmetry of circles.

Image analysis showed that the circle appeared in the same position as before. Meanwhile, experts have pointed out that the mysterious circle often appears in the holy cape peninsula on the east bank of Lake Baikal.

"It was previously thought that methane gas released from sedimentary layers in the baikal tectonic basin led to the formation of these circles," the expert said. However, recent studies have found that the formation of anticyclonic vortices under the baikal ice sheet is mainly due to the influence of water circulation, underwater topography and the shorelines of the lake.

The circle was first spotted in a photograph of the earth taken from space in the 1990s. In 2014, experts saw the same phenomenon again on the shengjiao peninsula in Lake Baikal.
